Door met kleuren en lijnen het spel tussen licht en schaduw te vangen, kan zijn werk worden gezien als een gevoelsmatig proces waarin vorm wordt gegeven aan emoties die onderbelicht blijven. Door deze beelden eindeloos bij te snijden en te bewerken probeert hij het gevoel van herkenning in de beelden te verstoren en daagt hij de beschouwer uit het rationele denken bij het kijken los te laten. New artwork Jelle Rietveld: 'Where is the end?'. By playing with light and shadows and combining them with colors and graphic lines, Rietveld’s work can be seen as an instinctive process in which seemingly hidden emotions are brought to the surface. By endlessly cropping and adjusting these images he aims to disrupt his own and the viewer’s sense of recognition in the images, challenging the viewer to let go of rational thought when perceiving his works.
